About this speaker

Coach Mark Wilson has been a lacrosse fan, player, and coach for over 30 years. His journey began in 1989 as a founding member of the Hillsborough High School lacrosse team in New Jersey. As a goalie and a defenseman at Hillsborough, Coach Wilson was captain and MVP his junior and senior years.

Coach Wilson continued his playing career as a long stick middie at Lehigh University.  In his senior season in 1994, he was part of a defense that led Division I in goals against average, and the team went 12-3 which was the most wins in a season in Lehigh history at that time.

Coach Wilson began his high school coaching career at St. Joseph - Metuchen as a defensive assistant and was named Greater Middlesex County Assistant Coach of the Year in 2004.  From 2007-2017 Coach Wilson had the great honor to coach his Alma Mater, Hillsborough High School, where he amassed a program record 100 wins and was the Skyland Conference and NJSIAA Group IV Coach of the Year in 2009. Currently, Coach Wilson is the Defensive Coordinator for the Somerville Pioneers, a Group II South high school program in Somerset County, NJ.  

In 2018 Coach Wilson was named Co-Head Coach and Defensive Coordinator of the inaugural Jamaica Men’s National Lacrosse team that went 7-1 in the 2018 World Lacrosse Championships.  The team finished 13th of 46 overall in the world, and the Team Jamaica Defense finished 4th overall in goals against average. In 2022, Coach Wilson served as the Defensive Coordinator of the Jamaican Men’s Team in the World Championships regional qualifier where the team qualified for the 2023 World Championships by earning a silver medal.  He also held the Defensive Coordinator role at the 2022 U21 Men’s World Championships where Jamaican Men finished 9th in the world.  In December of 2022, Coach Wilson was named Head Coach of the Jamaican Men’s National team, and he led them on a historic run in the 2023 World Lacrosse Championships where the Jamaican Men won their pool and finished 8th in the world.

Coach Wilson resides in Fanwood, NJ with his daughter Hope, son Wynn, and wife Dr. Adana Llanos Wilson.
